About sedisto
sedisto was founded in 2019 by a team with roots in both building automation and software. We had one question: why is access control in self-storage still so complicated?
The origin
The founding team came from two directions: hardware engineers who had spent years building access control systems for commercial real estate, and software developers who had built booking platforms for the sharing economy. The insight was clear: both sides existed, but they didn’t talk to each other.
A self-storage operator would install a modern booking system — and then manually copy access data into the access control system. Every booking, every cancellation, every exception. The booking system knew who had a contract; the door didn’t know yet.
sedisto was built to close this gap.
What we believe
Access control in self-storage should be invisible. When someone books a unit, they get access. When they cancel, the door locks. No phone calls, no WhatsApp, no key handovers. The operator doesn’t have to do anything.
This sounds simple. But it requires reliable integrations, a robust hardware platform, and a clear product philosophy: automation first, always.
The team
We are 28 people, spread across Dettum, Berlin and Vienna. Hardware engineers, backend developers, product managers, and a field team that installs and commissions on-site.
The founding team is still operationally active. Decisions are made quickly, customers get direct access to the people building the product.
